I DO GAS who....because I am holding a substantial # of dividend shares. Spence uses the same broker I do, and he sold his almost a month ago. If there were a problem, I am sure he would have let us know. I know Spence very well, and he would not say he sold all of his dividends if he didn't. Actually you shouldn't (as you stated) GAS at all about Scottrade, because they are not handling your shares. I have placed and cancelled several orders for the dividends just as a test over the last few weeks....the system takes it....the broker told me they are good to go....so it is what it is.
I understand everyone's frustration....I would be frustrated too....if I were having the problems others including yourself have reported. I am not going to argue on this with you, but I was very clear in what I found out this morning. This was not a trainee I talked to this morning. This was the branch manager that has been at my local office since it opened up probably 7 years ago. I am confident he knows what he is talking about.
Yes, it doesn't apply to your situation Who....but don't lamblast others (even if indirectly) for coming on here and giving their experience and info that was discovered. I am as much in the right on this, as you are with your own broker. We are both correct....the only difference is Scottrade does not have MY shares restricted, and I can trade them as I have been saying now for a month.
Additionally....I am also sure what Bluechips just related is true for him......that he can not currently trade his shares through Ameritrade.
Here is the info again, that I found out this morning (on a recorded line) for MY SHARES only:
