Nope, those rumors are false -- even if true, he'd have a hard time qualifying even to get on the ballot in more than a handful of states, and even if successful at that, he has no name I.D. and wouldn't draw even a tiny fraction of the votes of Nader. Maybe 1/100.

What's true is that the guy has already begun sounding out key Republicans in Alabama about making a run at the Alabama Governor's mansion in 2006.

A substantial number of Alabama Republicans are none too happy that after taking the Governorship in 2002, the first thing their guy did was propose and pass a massive tax hike. You might even recall it being in the national news briefly as the furor was something to behold.
