Does anybody follow this thread?

I've got a question that i haven't researched yet. Or maybe a ponderous thought.

I've heard where the new Max OS X is based on the Unix code base.

If true in structure as it sounds, then that means that Mac OS X is just another X-Windows platform like KDE, Gnome, etc.

I'm curious to see if I am right or wrong on this. If I am, then I would love to try it, as I'm a big fan of Unix/Linux code bases using various X-Windows.
