UND, we'll see in three years if anyone remembers the AMD64 moniker. Props goes to AMD for pioneering the path of least resistance. It took a lot of good planning and execution. However, I think it's naive to think that all the world's ISAs will be obsolete because of it. The embedded space is quite established with PPC, Arm, and MIPS. IPF is growing in the enterprise space, along with PPC as well. 64-bit x86 is probably going to be the volume PC and server architecture for the rest of this decade, but it does not inherently have any advantages over what's currently established, or what's over the horizon.
