Ahhh... begins to make sense now. Intel64 will be called Intel32 Extended. Pretty clever, and it doesn't subtract from IPF.

Why should it? It looks to fill the market gap between
IA-32 and IA-64. Far from being a big problem for IA-64,
it looks more like AMD64 will soon lose its sole claim
to fame. The only question left is how compatible with
AMD64 IA32E is. The possibilities are:

1) 100% compatible
2) Incompatible
3) Upwardly compatible, i.e. embrace and extend

If it is 2 or 3 then the early characterizations of
AMD64 as 64now! will have proven quite prescient.
