Also, don't forget that just because Intel says it's coming doesn't necessarily mean it'll be on time or right. The situation appears to potentially be not quite as wonderful as before, but I still think AMD has a pretty strong hand to play.

We know nothing about the timeframe (other than 2004) and performance relative to AMD's implementation.

Also IA32E is a pretty poor marketing name. It will end up creating confusion for the consumers. I guess for Xeon it doesn't matter, but it will for desktop. If Intel wants to push this technology, they'll need to market it properly, and not try to hide it from competing with IA64. Doing something with only half conviction is asking for trouble. They need to use their marketing muscle as this is one of Intel's major advantages over competitors.
