So are we sure this wasn't the blowback from overthrowing the legitimate government of Iran in 1953 and installing a sadistic despot to terrorize his own population until 1979?

Speaking of cowering in fear hero... which branch of service are you a veteran of, and why wouldn't they take you back for this conflict?
