Bones, logically it makes perfect sense in what you say, I also feel if you own shares on the date of the vote, then you should be able to vote. However there is a record date for a reason. Maybe only the shares owned on the record date that are still owned on the voting date are the only ones that will count as shares that can be voted.
Anyway, I suppose we will know for sure soon enough.
