Filming underway for Blonde & Blonder, A new Insight Studios feature
Pamela Anderson reveals her blonde ambition!
Vancouver, B.C. — Insight Studios is pleased to announce that filming began October 23 for its new feature, Blonde and Blonder, starring former Playboy pinups Pamela Anderson (V.I.P., Baywatch) and Denise Richards (Scary Movie 3). The film, described as Legally Blonde meets Dumb and Dumber, follows the hilarious antics of Dee Twiddle (Anderson) and her equally blond-brained sidekick Dawn St. Dom (Richards) as they outrun a clutch of cops and criminals after being mistaken for killers-for-hire.
Directed by Dean Hamilton (Dream Team, The Road Home), Blonde and Blonder is executive produced by Pamela Anderson, Alexander Tabrizi, Frederico Lapenda, Rigel Entertainment and Insight’s CEO Kirk Shaw. Canadian Global Media, Inc. and Paradigm Pictures, Inc. are also production partners in the project. The film is expected to premiere in spring 2007.
“We fell in love with the script, and then once we signed Pamela Anderson and Denise Richards, we knew we’d struck box office gold,” says Shaw.
The film is a comic romp about two blonde bombshells in the wrong place at the right time. After accidentally witnessing a mob hit, the gals are mistaken for assassins by two mafia men working for The Godfather. Thinking the dim-witted duo are the world’s best killers-for-hire, the mobsters offer them a huge payout to “take out” Mr. Wong, the head of the Chinese mafia. The clueless cuties happily accept the assignment, embarking on a wild adventure that takes them from Niagara Falls to Las Vegas — all while trying to dodge assorted federal agents, mafia and killers.
Blonde and Blonder also stars Emmanuelle Vaugier (Saw II), Meghan Ory (John Tucker Must Die), and comedy duo Kevin and John Farley (Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star).
Incorporated in 1990, Insight Film Studios is Western Canada's fastest growing independent film and television production company. The Vancouver-based studio also ranks as one of the top ten production companies in Canada. In 2006, the company began its foray into the theatrical realm, and is now in the midst of successfully completing five feature films.
Insight Film Studios is Canada's biggest and fastest growing independent television and film production studio and one of the largest producers of film and television movies in North America. Few independent studios can match Insight’s production resume. In 2006, Insight produced and financed five feature films (with eight to ten features set for 2007,) three television series (now airing on primetime US TV) a successful documentary series (in its second season on Global) as well as 25 made for television movies.
An entrepreneurial company in spirit and practice, the company has just entered into new contracts with NBC/Universal, Disney/Viacom and Sony in the US, plus in Canada CHUM, Global and Corus. In dollar terms, Insight achieved just under $120 million in production revenue during 2006 and will surpass $170 million in 2007. Although Insight’s recent growth has been exponential, the company’s success is in fact built upon 16 years of production.

2006 marked a turning point for Rigel Entertainment as the company revealed at MIPCOM market the production of 5 new movies by David Kemper (Farscape) for the SCI FI channel and then at AFM in November, announced Blonde and Blonder starring Pamela Anderson and Denise Richards; and also When a Man Falls in the Forest starring Sharon Stone, Timothy Hutton, and Dylan Baker. Additionally the company has added two features to its lineup with Lifetime including Twelve Hours to Live starring Ione Skye, and Last Chance Café starring Kevin Sorbo and Kate Vernon, which together with Fern Michael’s Trading Places and the soon to be produced Plain Jane are both new literary based film franchises in the same vein as the Mary Higgins Clark films.
