This is one of the most comprehensive server market share
data disclosures I have seen:

http://hp-user-society.de/events/itanium/2006/vortraege/itanium_und_integrity_im_rechenzentrum.pdf

I mentioned it here last year when I found it but it seems
worth lnking to it again

Outstanding data.

A few points :

-HP MS it's way too big for a healthy ecosystem , it would be much better if it would hover <50%.IMO , IBM , had it not canceled its IPF line had a chance to really push some serious sales there.
-NEC is a solid No2 while SGI , BULL and Hitachi have similar shares
-Unisys got squeezed badly
-Fujistu is picking up some steam , I expected more from their Primequest line
-Itanium is truly for the high end , 2S/4S are on a steady decline , it's uncompetitive there , that's a fact
-Seeing Europe as the primary IPF market was a shock , I expected the Americas to be 1st.

Montecito in its castrated form still offers significant benefits , I wonder how the situation would look like in the past 4 Q.
