I just noodlin' here but be careful what you wish for. If Intel has a 32 bit procesor that runs 32 bit code as fast or faster than an opteron, and they just announce that maybe they will come out with a 32-64 bit extension thingy.

Then that may just freeze opteron server sales and if the intel chip that runs 32 bit faster than the opteron, that would severly limit opteron desk top sales.

AND if they don't ship this chip in volume, then they stymie AMD and don't impact Itanium sales.

And Opteron becomes a platform to develop the market so that Intel doesn't waste any money in development.

Cute, huh?
