That is a distortion since it includes only "income taxes", it does not include "Payrolls taxes". If you included payroll taxes, I think that it would be closer to less than 10% paid by those above $300,000. I would venture that 75% of all tax payers pay more in "Payroll taxes" (including employer "contributions") than they pay in "Income taxes". My guess is that 95% of those having an AGI under $83,000 (for joint filers) pay more in payroll taxes than income taxes.
