Sgolds -

Had RDRAM been delivered within a year of original targets, would there have been an MTH?

A little history from someone who was in the trenches. The MTH was Intel's safety net in case RDRAM didn't work. It was planned from the beginning. The problem was that even with the MTH, Intel was dependent on the RDRAM interface working because the MTH to North Bridge interface was still RDRAM. The failure of management was to put all their eggs in RDRAM, even their fallback position. Ultimately the MTH problem was a noise issue but the market had passed them by. It also killed Timna, the first integrated processor, memory controller and graphics chip and another product I had involvement in.
