sgolds, no they don't. That was my whole point. Merely having a competing part at a much lower price is enough, assuming Intel is desperate to prevent that part from being sold. As I said, suppose you're looking to buy a few servers, or a cluster from Intel. Just *pretend* to be interested in an Opteron solution, and watch the prices fall.
