I think the line "*Encapsulated islet cells incorporate technology from Novocell, Inc. and SurModics" may be more telling. I have only taken a skim through all the patents we have linked but for the moment it still looks to me as though Novocell is patenting the coating composition and SRDX is patenting the method of creating that coating.
