"The concept is to essentially allow banking through debit cards for individuals who otherwise could not formally access the banking or credit systems. This alone would allow the majority of Central Americans to begin to lift themselves out of third world conditions, by simply giving them access to modern banking."

So Panamersa issues debit cards to the poor in Central America? Doesn't a debit card assume funds in an account? Where do the funds come from? Panamersa? At what interest rate? And how do the poor magically get money to cover the debit card purchases and the interest? This is access to modern banking? It sounds more like Panamersa is loaning money to people who lack the means to pay it back, in my opinion. But, of course, this is probably all too complicated for the average investor to understand.
