I have never had definitive information that a CEO of a company I followed ever posted on a message board, but I know that the (ex-) Medical Director and a named exec of a biotech I follow did for many years. I also am sure that most CEOs read the boards at the companies they follow religiously.
I was shocked more than once to find that an exec I talked to not only read his/her company's YMB but had figured out that I was microcapfun.
I guess it isn't that hard when you raise some of the same issues and have been following and posting on a company for ~5 years or more ...
Four (4!) engineers and former engineers of a medical device company I posted on contacted me by email, and 2 struck up long-term friendships which have continued for several years.
I've found the most useful thing about posting is that from time to time I hear from a former employee or someone that has connections at a company.
Invariably they are scrupulous about not divulging inside information, but still - the general perspective one gets can be invaluable in deciphering a company's mindset and prospects.
Sorry for rambling OT ...
