I hope that the technology helps curb music piracy, but it will never be able to completely rid of the "problem". I wasn't really being serious with my post about the Limewire thing, it was a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor. On the topic of anti-piracy tactics... remember Madonna's cd where people would try to illegally download her songs and receive a recording of her saying "what the f--- do you think you're doing?" It took hackers like 30 seconds crack that and have her entire album available for download. Also, remember a few years back when the latest and greatest anti piracy technology was defeated with a simple permanent marker line being drawn on the edge of the cd? Another one was defeated by holding down the shift key (or was it tab, I don't remember) when copying the "protected" music. Being heavily involved in the computer field, I'm amazed at the speed that hackers can thwart the latest protection methods. Usually, they end up with a slap on the wrist, but sometimes they receive a little jail time followed by offers for million dollar positions with the companies that they hacked.
