If they want a jury trial I say they have a right to do so. When government always wants you to settle and accept charges against you, a lot of people cave in. But if you are right and know you are right you will go for a jury trial and let the chips fall where they may. Too many times police will wear down an individual and they will plead guilty when they are not. I say stand your ground if you are right and have a jury trial. I would be willing to stand before my peers anytime. If I were right.
