If you read the news item carefully, you will see that the wuote you used was out of context. Apparently, the "drop" you were stating was reletive to the all time record. The full copy reads as follows:


CALGARY/AM770CHQR - Calgary's booming housing construction market appears to be slowing down significantly.
New figures by Canada Mortgage and Housing show housing starts in the city fell almost 19 percent last month compared to May 2006.
But of course, 2006 was a banner year in Calgary, and more specifically, starts in May 2006 were higher than any month on record.
Experts expect total single-detached housing starts by the end of the year to be about 12 percent lower than 200
