After the Bell-Planar (-20%), Trimeris shares fall after bell

NEW YORK, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Shares of Planar Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:PLNR - News), a maker of flat-panel displays, fell 20 percent on Monday as the company cut earnings expectations for the December quarter, citing a shortfall in its medical segment.
Its shares fell to $20.60 on the Instinet electronic brokerage system from their close at $25.85 in regular trade on Nasdaq.
Shares of Trimeris Inc. (NasdaqNM:TRMS - News) also fell after the biotechnology company said it halted early-stage trials of an HIV drug with Swiss pharmaceutical firm Roche Holding AG (ROCZg.VX).
Trimeris shares fell to $18.02 on Instinet after closing at $20.24 in regular Nasdaq trade.
