10mm, I'm very familiar with them, one of my favorite rounds and I carry one every day.

To put it in a nutshell, it's about the same as a .41 mag, It was the basis for the development of the 40S&W. Many complained the 10mm had too much recoil, they began downloading the 10mm round and by the time they got the recoil level to where they wanted it they realized the chamber pressures had dropped to a level where it could be placed on a smaller frame, from that the 40S&W was born.

The biggest problem the FBI had was they chose the S&W 1076 if I remember correctly, not exactly my choice for the round, it does produce more felt recoil than the Glock 20 and doesn't handle the round as well.

Many of the factory loads today do not near it's potential, I have found one small Mfg in Utah that produces a full power load for it. As for velocity, I've tested some of their loads that have chronographed at just under 1800 fps. That is approaching rifle velocity not doubt about it. Not bad especially considering the Glock 20 will pack 16 rounds of it. The recoil is manageable, not much more than the 40S&W in a Glock 22.

Anything else you want to know about them let me know, I've owned and shot them for years.
