I don't know. I have nothing to back up this instinct, but here's what I think went down:

PV and AD with malice aforethought set up the SLJB scam. I don't know if the Sulja family are dupes, willing participants or somewhere in between (i.e., they started as dupes but when they saw no way out they became willing participants). Black Pete and Andy expected to grift a little from a lot of penny stock players and move on to their next grift. However, the PRs were just too juicy and drew a LOT more attention than they expected. The whole thing exploded on them and now their future is looking blacker than Petey's clothes.
