They are, i left Alberta ~2 years ago and they were making major strides there, competing with Revy/Rona for the vast majority of business. Many of the smaller chains were disappearing at the time, Beaver Lumber was a bigger local chain that is gone now and Totem (the other major , local chain) was being hurt by the big Boys.

Competing with the buying power of home depot and Revy/Rona is not really possible. Its like opening a coffee shop beside a Starbucks, not a wise business decision.
