bell -- i don't know if Yasheng itself trades on another exchange, but wednesday's press release (go to Yahoo Finance and get the summary page for YHGG.pk) dealt with Yasheng's wholly-owned subsidiary Gansu Yasheng Industrial, which does trade on the Shanghai exchange -- the SP chart for Gansu, which goes back to 2000, shows the stock rising over 1000% recently, adding another 7% yesterday....
could YHGG still be a scam? sure, and if it is, i will be out in a flash -- but these signs indicate that it is not, along with the 80K share block buy i saw the other day....one other indication is that the company does NOT have the word "china" in its name, which should be a red flag (pun) for western investors like us...
i spent a month traveling through china back in 1998, including the Xi'an area where Yasheng is located, and i speak a little chinese -- the growth i saw in china, especially in Xi'an, Beijing, and Shanghai, was just tremendous, and i remember thinking to myself back then, "there is money to be made here" -- i can also recognize english text that is translated from chinese, or that has been written by someone who speaks chinese, and Yasheng's press releases have that exact quality...
my latest email to their IR person got no response, however, so that was irritating -- i had read somewhere that YHGG had partnered with citibank or some other US corporation to promote their business and products at the 2008 olympics in beijing, and i asked for details about that, but got no response....
a good holiday to you and all other Yashengies out there....
