Not at all. When I read that little explanation the giggle
factor was too high to bother reading the rest of the article
let alone critiquing it.

Regarding 64-bit market share within the server industry, he points to research by IDC, which predicts five million x86 server (32- and 64-bit) units to be sold in 2004. Intel, with its investment in IA-64, plans to release x86-64 processors next year.

It is amazing the number of people, Intel critics and other-
wise, that want it to legitimize 64 bit x86 by introducing
it own 64 bit x86 chip. Intel will probably eventually
release a 64 bit x86 chip but it won't be next year IMO.

Here's my prediction: next year a combination of growing
software base and new, lower cost entry level systems will
cause IPF processor unit sales to more than double and
system unit sales to more than quadruple. Total IPF-based
hardware sales will be over $4B in 2004, ahead of 2 or 3
of the major RISC families.
