BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - America Asia Petroleum said it has signed a technology agreement covering the extraction of crude oil from shale rock in China.

The agreement aims to reduce China's dependence on foreign oil, company president John Bows said in a statement. He did not identify the Chinese partner involved in the agreement.

America Asia Petroleum operates in China through joint ventures and has offices in China and the US.
