Working at a very small specialty optical fiber manufacturer, I can second your wariness on China. There is nothing there that gets done without bribery. Corruption is rampant. Most US companies leave the bribery to their agents in China and then pay the agents for consulting fees.

There may be some great investment opportunities in Chinese stocks, but you just never know.
