RE: Mikkj - Gun Control

"The fact that every other attempt at registration has led to confiscation."

< I don't remember that happening here. Could you please enlighten me as to WHEN this occured? OR, are you saying that WE are just the same as every other country? I guess that pesky old 2nd amendment will just dissapear, and all our citizenry roll over an play dead, right? Ye Gods! >

They said confiscation could never happen in Canada either, which is more like the US than about any other country.

< Read the study, THEN comment. It clearly shows that in cities with unregistered guns, the amount of crime commited with LEGAL guns is FAR higher than those with registration. >

The study never mentions legally owned guns, only guns that were originally bought legally.

"The study focused on differences in the proportion of the cities' crime guns that were originally sold by in-state gun dealers.

"Registration makes it easier to trace guns used in crime to their most recent
<[legal]> owner, and to investigate illegal gun sales."

All fine if they ever want to prosecute the original gun buyers instead of the criminals who used the guns. Nowhere in the study does it mention how many of these guns were used illegally by the people who bought them.

The Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research, established in 1995, is dedicated to preventing gun-related deaths and injuries.

No political agenda there, huh... The NRA has the same goals, they just want it done by prosecuting the criminals, not blaming the guns.
