I heard rumors last year about PECB going into the field of cat food. This incident is going to have a negative effect on the "usual, high carbohydrate" players in the market (hmmm, do PECBs dog food treats have wheat gluten in them?), but may create opportunities for those offering an alternative approach.

I run the largest feline health discussion on the Internet and the number one topic there right now is making up your own raw food. For those of us uncomfortable with that idea, a "super premium" diet packaged in chubs or (especially) patties like ground beef, instead of small cans that are unsuitable for multi-cat homes, would have a ready-made market.

Unfortunately, all the diets currently marketed in that form are for dogs only.
