I don't believe this at all. I never said that AMD should simply give up. They're doing what anyone else would be doing in their position. They're trying to compete on all fronts, from technology to legal to PR. It's the best they can do for themselves and their shareholders, even if they happen to fleece the shareholders in the process. (The fleecing should be a matter for the SEC and whatever lawsuits the shareholders decide to file, if any.)
As for Intel, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I think it's time that Intel finally put away AMD for good. I know that's not the most "kosher" thing to say from an anti-trust perspective, but what the heck. The government will be the government, and they're always going to be on Intel's back, whether AMD is around or not.
That's why I no longer believe those who say that AMD still exists because Intel just wants to fend off the FTC.
