Ron Paul is a radical. The American patriot/civil libertarian thought is considered radical these days. Some of his positions I don't agree with at all and consider them unworkable in the real world. Things like abolishing the fed reserve and going back to the gold standard.

But you have to remember that the president doesn't do it all by themself. The house and senate and judiciary are the other two branches of government. They have an enormous amount of inertia built up by diligently following the directions of myriad special interest groups over the last century. With this sort of inertia, no one person could have too much of an impact.

Being smart and honest and having some sort of character would be an incredible improvement on the dimwitted fascists running things now. I suppose the only thing saving us so far is that dimwitness. Imagine if they were actually at least of average intelligence.
