Boy, are you one dimensional in YOUR thinking! While the macro-world was very keenly understood, the ancients had no concept of microbiology, environmental factors, and various and related social ecology matters.

Whatever happens, it is a transitional point of space/time and was an astronomical event accurately predicted long, long millenium ago as recorded on the Tortuguero Stela 6. We definitely ARE passing through a region of space with some unusual attributes. Significant and interesting changes are occurring.

How and why is this? Anyone's guess, I suppose.

But just don't forget, there is a lot of stuff we don't know.

The nature and effects of dark matter for example. The various attributes of different parts of space. Solar flaring. Or why comets turn off and on. Or why many proto-comets seem to originate in the Oort cloud. Or if a hidden star really stirs them up as many, many ancient texts explain. Or how all these things combine in specific regions of space.

We do have a major confluence of events piling up at the galactic level. We are seeing profound changes in and around our solar system.

What does it mean? How will it affect us? I do not know. Just seems to be an extraordinary and curiously intense time period. A convergence of many, many things.
