DeSantis calls special session to put homestead property tax elimination on November ballot
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday he will call a special legislative session next week to draft a constitutional amendment aimed at eventually eliminating property taxes on primary residences for the vast majority of Florida homeowners.
The special session, scheduled to begin Monday, will task the Republican-supermajority legislature with placing a historic tax relief initiative on the November ballot. The proposal is being advanced under the banner “Save Our Homes From Excessive Property Taxes.”
