The transition is still happening that data just doesn’t show it. The author of that story knows it. Clickbait!

I drive a 2017 Subaru Forester. It gets much better gas mileage than my last vehicle, a 2003 Subaru Forester. ( I don’t know what that proves)

Oh. I get it. Energy efficiency. I don’t know if that is considered part of the transition. But, it curbed a lot of increased energy demand in the US for a few decades.
