The Unabomber (Theodore Kaczynski) died by suicide in his prison cell at the Federal Medical Center (FMC)
Butner in North Carolina on June 10, 2023. He had been moved there in 2021 from the ADX Florence
Supermax prison in Colorado. The specific cell he occupied is generally reallocated to another inmate
in accordance with standard Bureau of Prisons protocols for medical facility management.
