If you are asking a serious question, then a possible explanation might be that it makes sense as a way to protect the overall larger investment. If some short term funding is required to pay the bills and it represents a tiny fraction of one's holdings, it could be a perfectly rational reason to raise some money by selling some shares. I am not saying this is the answer, but it is AN answer that doesn't accuse her of being evil, which I don't believe her to be.
