Acacia Research shares rise over 3% after Q4 earnings and revenue top estimates

Acacia Research Corporation (NASDAQ:ACTG) reported fourth-quarter results on Wednesday that exceeded analyst forecasts for both earnings and revenue.

The company posted adjusted earnings of $0.03 per share for the quarter, compared with analysts’ expectations of a loss of $0.14 per share. Revenue came in at $50.1 million, beating the $38 million consensus estimate. Sales rose 3% year over year from $48.8 million in the same quarter last year and increased 133% to a record $285.2 million for the full year.

Shares climbed 3.37% in pre-market trading following the results announcement.

Acacia reported GAAP net income of $3.4 million for the quarter, equal to $0.04 per diluted share. Total company adjusted EBITDA reached $17.4 million, while adjusted EBITDA from the operated segment totaled $22.4 million.

“Acacia delivered strong financial and operating results for the fourth quarter,” said Chief Executive Officer Martin McNulty. “This quarter marked the completion of a successful year for our team, with Acacia generating record annual revenue of $285.2 million, driven by our growing portfolio of operating businesses.”

Within its business segments, Manufacturing Operations generated $26.4 million in quarterly revenue. Energy Operations contributed $16 million, while Industrial Operations added $7.3 million. Intellectual Property Operations recorded revenue of $326,000.

At the end of the quarter, Acacia held $339.6 million in cash, cash equivalents, equity securities and loans receivable, equal to $3.52 per share, compared with $297 million at the end of 2024.

The company also said its Energy Operations unit, Benchmark Energy, successfully drilled its first Cherokee well, which is expected to begin production this week.

For the full year, Acacia reported adjusted net income of $29.2 million, or $0.30 per diluted share, up from $14.2 million, or $0.14 per diluted share, recorded in 2024.
