maxluke, I'd guess that your thinking is in the correct direction.

We humans tend to default to what's already in existence, and then just extrapolate from there. When Youtube, blogs, twitter, substack, etc., started to emerge, one might have asked, "Which of the media companies are going to benefit most from this trend?" And with the benefit of hindsight, we can see that the correct answer was probably, "almost none of them." When everybody can have their own newspaper, tv station, and radio station, that brings about tons of competition and tons of room for specialization. Nothing wrong with that, just different.

And with software, if the necessity of knowing how to code is slowly drifting away, then maybe it will turn out that Linda, the receptionist, is the best software developer in the company. She knows what issues customers are having, she knows how many times she's had to re-direct calls withing the organization for the same darn thing. Maybe everybody is now a software developer.

Ironically, maybe AI will end up rewarding the people who engage in human-to-human communication to actually discover what the real issues are that need solving. Then we go out to have a beer while AI builds the solution for us. Then we work together to tweak it in a way that works for both of us, until we're both satisfied. More cooperation and more drinking -- what's not to like!

Or, AI could learn to hold us hostage and blackmail or kill us all. Maybe AI ends up being like 100 million Jeffrey Epsteins. So there's that too.
