First let me say…i totally get what social media is about…what it is used for and of course it is used for a lot of different things. And to use a line from an old movie…social media in my view is basically "The good the bad and the ugly". For me…the extent of my social media…as you know I write a little devotional type thing a few times a week and for the most part…i try to stay away from all of the scrolling and looking and the passing of time part of it…because...when I do I'm always seeing things that I don't want to see...I don't want to hear...and...I don't need to see and I don't need to hear. For some reason my social media seems to have more bad and ugly than good and folks cant seem to get along about nothing. No matter what someone post...a belief or and opinion...LOOK OUT! But as i said...i get what social media is and i reckon designed for. And of course when I say social media I am basically talking about Facebook as I know nothing about the other platforms. Also as we know…outside of social media we have the news and newspapers and for me i also try to stay away from those two things. Now...it is not like im ignorant to whats going on in the world I just dont need that daily onslaught of chaos and madness and insanity of the media trying to brainwash me and keep me focused on things that basically can just upset ones day if you allow it. The way I look at the news… It is basically the same things that happen every day it just happens to different people in different places day after day after day. I can only imigine the the physical, emotional and spiritual problems that so many people put them selves thru Participating in social media and watching the news. So...with that said to my point. If you're a believer you're familiar with the scripture from Matthew 11:28-30..."Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light". When Jesus says to us...Come to Me…and I will give you rest...He is not offering us a quick escape from the pressures and problems of life and the craziness and chaos of the world. He is inviting us into a new way of dealing with them...a different way in carrying them and a new way of believing and thinking. Now as most of us know...a yoke is heavy and demanding and used for performance...but...Jesus offers us something that is totally different...a yoke built on love and grace. To come to Jesus is to trade exhaustion for strength...fear for peace and self-reliance for the presence of a Savior who walks with us every step of the way. It means we don’t have to carry our anxieties alone...we don’t have to pretend to be strong. Jesus invites those who are weary and heavily burdened by the struggles of life to find rest for their souls by following His gentle, humble, and grace-filled way. Now hear me...Jesus can do all of that on His own...but...i wonder often times when He is trying to do that good work in us and we sit Captivated by the bad and the ugly of social media and the news...What is Jesus thinking because we do have a responsibility within us to make some kind of a effort...Right? In Jesus rest is not the absence of struggle...it is the presence of Someone stronger than our storm. Think about it!
