Yesterday of course we finished 2025 and here this morning we start the new year of 2026. And in thinking of the worlds view of this event that took place as the clock struck midnight last night. We often hear of the new year as a new beginning...out with the old and in with the new...leaving the baggage of yesterday behind us and getting a fresh new start. However and more importantily...the Bible tells us that all people must at some point in time as we walk this earthly path we must have a new beginning...become a new creation...out with the old person we were and in with the new person we now are through a relationship with Jesus. We must become a born-again believer in and through Jesus...and...surrender our life to Him and walk with Him as now we have a new home in heaven when our time on earth is finished. So with that thought in mind i want to talk to two groups of people this morning...this new year. If you have an addiction to alcohol...if you have an addiction to drugs...or both...or...if you have a loved one that has for whatever reason...taken the road leading to these things...can i please have a moment of your time. As many of you know i lived a hell on earth that i myself created for 25 years of putting enough booze and drugs in my body to kill most of Coxs army. So i speak as someone that has been there done that and more importantly i speak as a child of the living God. If you are a person with the addiction...most likely you have given up all hope...you probably think there will never be another sober day in your life. Your just waiting to hit rock bottom and then...just see what happens...or...waiting to wake up dead...because satan and his lies have convinced you that there is no hope. And if you are the person of a loved one...family member...or friend that has drifted into this way of living...you have probably also given up all hope or you are getting to that point because the pain of trying to help has torn you down. Addiction is hard...addiction is something that grabs you by the heart, mind and soul and controls every moment of every day. Yes for the one addicted and the one dealing with it all. Addiction is a lostness that is so hard to explain to anyone that has never been there...but for the person living this nightmare...addiction becomes a science in how to survive minute by minute day by day...and...for those that are living the nightmare because of a loved one or friend living this hell on earth life...well...thats a hell in itself just in a different way of seeing someone dear to you not only destroy their life but most often the familys life as well. So...wheres the hope? Wheres the peace? Whats the answer? i can tell you this. There are resources out there of different types of "faith based" groups and organizations that do much good. There are "faith based" re-hab facilities that are of much help. There are "faith based" counselors and doctors and a good many things of the world that really do have their place in helping people of addiction and their family and friends. But i can tell you right here and now...the true One and only answer for success comes in One name and One person...and that is through a personal relationship with JESUS! When we surrender our life to Jesus and we are filled with the Holy Spirit....that is what makes all the difference in the world to walking away from addiction and getting on the straight and narrow road to success. Its been 30 years sense i took Jesus hand and He lifted me out of my earthly hell of 25 years of booze and drugs and i will tell you point blank...it is Jesus who has kept me on that straight and narrow path these past 30 years...nothing that the world has provided. Who better to rescue us from the hands of addiction and satan and pain than the very person that created us in the first place! Dont give up hope...make this new year of 2026 the year you say yes to Jesus and let Him help you put the booze and drugs behind you once and for all. Jesus turned my life around and He is waiting to do the same for you! Trust Him!
