In part of their releases they reference the Limon Airport & their intentions. Only a handful of problems there. Those plans have existed since 2018 to extend the Limón Airport runway, with the government working on designs to expand it on DGAC-owned land, but the current single runway is short for regular long-haul international flights, requiring upgrades to meet ICAO standards for wider international service, One major hurdle there is not enough land nearby for said. It's a great little airport where they weigh both you & your luggage prior to boarding or flight. Used mostly for travels back to San Jose for government related matters.
