No, but all the extra power you make carries over on the bill. If you fall short on production the electric company won't charge you for extra power until your reserve runs out. Unfortunately it resets every April and any reserve is lost.

That's how they tailor your system. You don't want to be paying for panels you don't need. I made more power than I used but only by 100 kWh or so and at wholesale price that's maybe 10 bucks.

Each state and electric company is different though. I was in Illinois and it could be different somewhere else.
