No, I don't think it's that complicated. This was the link that prompted Google's "AI Overview" to give different answers to us:

(I copied your link, but my original was the same, except that Safari was the browser.) As it's easy to see, "was Kirk Douglas ever in a chariot in a movie" is fairly vague. I suppose Gemini felt it didn't have enough information, and so decided to hallucinate some answers.

But of course it shouldn't do that.

Moral of the story: don't trust AI Overview.
