Aaaah, ok. Sure, if someone's strategy is for a dividend play, owning FNMAS or FNMAT or one of the 50 series is probably the way to go. When I first started investing in the GSE's over 10 years ago, I was all about the commons for the growth potential and wasn't thinking of dividends at that time. I basically went "all in" on the commons about 4 or 5 years ago, and I didn't have much capital to spare. After the 8-0 jury decision, people were selling the preferred's (which I thought was crazy); I had some extra funds so I dipped my toes in and went with the ones that were low-priced (the 25 series mostly) and furthest from par value. At this time, I'm like Ackman-not buying, but not selling either.
