I came close to buying Waste Management (WM) stock several times decades ago. They are are our trash company now and do a pretty good job. But look up their history. It's been a very sleazy company at times.

-------------------
"The Waste Management accounting scandal involved the company artificially inflating its profits by overstating its earnings and using improper accounting methods, such as extending the depreciation time for its assets. This resulted in a significant drop in stock price and a major class-action lawsuit that Waste Management settled for $457 million in 2003. The company's independent auditor, Arthur Andersen, was also fined $7 million for its role in the scandal.
Improper accounting: Waste Management improperly extended the depreciation time for its assets, which artificially increased its reported profits by $1.7 billion.
Impact on stock: The revelations led to a significant drop in the company's stock price, resulting in a loss of over $6 billion in market value for shareholders.
Legal and financial consequences: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Waste Management in 1999, and the company settled the suit for $457 million in 2003.
Auditor's penalty: The SEC fined Waste Management's auditor, Arthur Andersen, $7 million for its part in the scandal."

Understand I'm looking for capital gains, not income or dividends. Stocks like BRK ideally.

QQQ is a good one along that line in that it only yields about 0.5%
