Conservatives in bay Area - Be Careful out there....There were Antifa Goons in Oakland/Berkeley burning up everything becuase TP USA had an Event there today evening.... They sure want to drive out all Repubs out of CA...I lived in Bay Area as I was founder-Engg Teams Led in two startup during DotCom Boom-Bust 2000-2002....It was far different, though a "Left Hotbed'...At least there were no Armed-Gangs or Homeless & Drug Cartel Gangs...Maybe the Uber-Rich VC were snorting you know what but at least Common Folks could move around freely and we would go to the Union Center Mall every weekend and then Fishermen's wharf area etc. Also, we would just drive over the Golden Gate bridge and go to Muir Woods and that 'Black-sand' beach over there every couple of weeks, just for the heck of it!
I almost bought a nice Brand New Home for $350K In Livermore but my wife pulled me back over some 'stupid little' thing she didn't like! That was in 2000. Then Unfortunately economy started going down and then 9/11 happened and that was the End of everything in Silicon Valley....After 3 Rounds of VC funding for $27M, we had to shut down the startup...I was there another 6 months, working in other startups which were themselves in dire straights! After our beautiful daughter was born in 2002, we decided Bay Area was not for folks truing to raise family with traditional values etc and left for TX/East Coast for good! I was so thankful that my wife's "Intuition" stopped us from buying what I felt was an awesome home at a great price....But sometimes, life gives you your 'Fortune' somewhere else. My daughter just graduated from Wellesley-MIT and even though they wouldn't give any scholarships because she is the "Other Brown-skinned minority", they couldn't refuse her Grants...Despite very tough scene with Ph.D/Internships, she got into a Post-Bac Fellowship into NIH this July...
