Direct messaging = private messaging

Batch reading = you can read blocks of messages instead of individually. Go to any message and at the bottom of the message (below the text box) you should see "Read Next 10". You can change this in Settings if you want to read up to 100 at a time. (Settings: Hover over the picture in the top right hand corner of the screen. Use the arrow down to go to Settings. Then on the top row above the box, click on Site Options. Then scroll down to Messages in Batch Read and set the number to whatever you prefer then Change on the far right.)
