Tech Voices: Fannie, Freddie eye tech equity stakes

Federal Housing Finance Authority Director Bill Pulte said Fannie Mae (OTCQB:FNMA)
and Freddie Mac (OTCQB:FMCC) are exploring taking equity stakes in tech companies.

“We have some of the biggest technology and public companies offering equity to Fannie
and Freddie in exchange for Fannie and Freddie partnering with them in our business,”
Pulte said Friday at an industry event, according to Bloomberg.

“We’re looking at taking equity stakes in companies that are willing to give it to us because
of how much power Fannie and Freddie have over the whole ecosystem," he added.

Pulte added that the Trump administration will likely decide by early next year on whether
to hold IPOs for the government-backed financing entities.
