While Europe and Zelensky didn't think Putin would invade in '22 he invaded. Illegally. The West cautious about escalating the conflict refused Ukraine the weapons they wanted which suited Putin. If now Trump's proposal that the war stops at current battle lines then Putin will have been handily rewarded for his illegal invasion. He gains more of Ukraine. Like it or not, in favor of the war stopping on those terms or not; whether Zelensky agrees to it or not he will have been sold out by the West. On balance Trump has been a relative plus for Putin for the three year. The way i see it.

PS: Noted, just saw, Zelensky has rejected Trump's proposed peace plan. Some others will be surprised.
